Ottawa/Gatineau to Mont Laurier ?

I'm planning an early October trip routing: Brockville - Ottawa - Gracefield - Mont Laurier - Montreal - Cornwall - Brockville.

Does anyone have any recent knowledge of:
1) Route des Draveurs from Low to Maniwaki as an alternative to Hwy 105? Is it hard-packed enough for road tires?

2) Hwy 105 going north? Are there paved shoulders? What's the traffic like?

3) From Maniwaki to Mont Laurier ... use Hwy 105 then 117, or take Hwy 107 across to 117 ?

Any other advice on that stretch would be welcome.

Day 4: Mont Tremblant to Ste Therese
Day 5: Ste Therese to downtown Montreal
Day 6: Montreal to Hawkesbury
Day 7: Hawkesbury to Ottawa
